ABOUT US
Beyond Elements (BE) is the philanthropic arm of Elements Wellness Center located in Washington, DC. BE supports Elements’ mission by funding and creating opportunities for Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) to discover and embrace the joy of movement that is central to achieving optimal health and wellness outcomes.
BE operates on the premise that diversity and representation matter. It aims to change not only the face of the 
Method by increasing black and brown representation, but also to expand its reach by facilitating health and wellness programming in underrepresented and underserved communities.
OUR WORK
BE TEACHER TRAINING: We provide high-quality training and development for women of color to become teachers and practitioners in the Method, which includes the 
modality. We lean on the expertise of our staff at Elements Wellness Center to teach students and certify trainers, while creating a space where students see themselves reflected, nurtured and supported.
STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP: We leverage the experience and expertise of teachers and instructors at notable wellness, dance and fitness studios across the United States to build, grow and sustain a strong pipeline of teachers and instructors of color.
COLLABORATION: We work with local organizations to meet the wellness needs of people right where they are by helping to train more people in wellness modalities and create and offer fitness and wellness programs to improve health outcomes and overall quality of life for underserved communities in Washington, DC.
OUR IMPACT
Elements’ staff, clients and community donated $130,000 worth of services and fees to make the Method accessible and welcoming to women in the BIPOC Communities.

Since the BE program Zahra was accepted into Trinity Laban MFA Dance Science and has traveled to London. She has been part of bringing together black women movement educators in London, one of whom joined the 2023 Beyond Elements Gyrotonic training. Let’s keep moving forward, we need your help.

So far 5 graduates have either opened wellness studios or added the Gyrotonic modalities to their Pilates studios expanding access to joyful movement where there previously were “movement deserts.”
The next cohort is revved up and ready, we all know there needs to be more access nationwide let’s make it happen.

Looking Ahead to 2026
We are pleased to share that our GYROKINESIS® Foundation programs for 2026 are already on the horizon. Foundation Pretraining courses will be offered in January and March, followed by the full GYROTONIC® Foundation Course in May. All private sessions are offered free of charge as part of the BE PROGRAM.
